Product Details

BC Racing HM Series Coilovers for the 1992-1999 BMW 3-Series E36 Coupe combine the inverted-damper durability of the RM Series with the independent compression and rebound tuning of the ER Series — BC's pick for track-day McPherson-strut builds. Every kit is extensively tested on the 3-Series E36 Coupe chassis and refined until it balances ride quality with performance — the reason 3-Series E36 Coupe coilovers from BC Racing are the best-selling adjustable kits in their segment worldwide.

HM Series kits use an inverted mono-tube damper on McPherson-strut chassis (upright on double-wishbone) with external reservoirs feeding separate compression and rebound adjusters. The result: the tuning depth of the ER Series inside the heavy-load chassis architecture of the RM. Where BC Racing separates itself is tuning philosophy: every off-the-shelf spring rate and damper setup is chosen to stay comfortable on daily roads while still delivering real performance at the track. If you want something different, Swift Springs, custom rates, and custom valving are all options at checkout — BC will match the valving of the dampers to whatever springs you pick, something most brands don't offer outside their flagship race lineup.

BC Racing has been manufacturing adjustable coilovers since 2004 and is one of the most popular coilover brands in the automotive tuning industry for a reason: competitive pricing, deep customization, proven reliability, and a fully rebuildable damper design that lasts years instead of seasons. These 3-Series E36 Coupe coilovers arrive tuned for the 3-Series E36 Coupe chassis and ready to bolt in — no break-in period, no guessing at setup. Every kit ships with a 2-year manufacturer warranty, lifetime access to BC service parts (pistons, seals, shafts — no unit replacement required when it's time for a rebuild), and in-house tech support from both BC Racing and the Springrates team.

Reviews / Q&A

FAQs

Please read our FAQs page to find out more.

How much will BC Coilovers lower my car?

On average, Standard Drop allows about 1-2 inches of drop range below factory ride height. Extreme Low allows about 2-3 inches of drop.

Can BC Coilovers achieve factory ride height?

No. In most cases, factory ride height cannot be achieved.

What is a custom build vs off-the-shelf kit?

The stock level displayed on our website reflects the availability of standard “off-the-shelf” kits, unless noted otherwise in the product description. Selecting any custom options—such as Extreme Low, custom spring rates, Swift Spring upgrades, or top mount changes—will result in a custom-built kit. Please note: all series except the BR Series are built to order, with the exception of select popular DS Series kits that may be in stock. Also, some popular Extreme Low kits are in stock as well. To identify these, look for "Extreme Low" in the product title.

Will the struts be valved correctly?

Yes! The shocks and/or struts are always valved to match the spring rates you choose during a custom build. There is no additional cost.

Can they be rebuilt?

Yes, all BC Racing Coilovers can be rebuilt by purchasing individual replacement parts. For example, if a strut leaks, you can simply replace the shock cartridge.

Is there rush shipping available?

Rush shipping is not offered, but all in-stock kits ship very fast— most by the next day.

Customizing the coilovers in any way will delay the shipment by a few weeks on average.
